Kinder Plus

The KinderPlus Enrichment Program is a 3 & 1⁄2 hour program designed to compliment and enhance the school experience by extending the Kindergarten curriculum and providing a strong foundation from which students become engaged learners. The goals of the KinderPlus Program are achieved when children:

  • Develop confidence in themselves and their ability to demonstrate knowledge.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and the ability to focus their attention.
  • Acquire a level of communicative competence.
  • Acquire social skills and abilities that enable them to relate to other children and adults.

The KinderPlus curriculum includes Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health, Physical Education, Music and Art. Teachers refer to the Arizona State Kindergarten Curriculum Guide for each area of study. The following components are used to maximize each child’s individual learning style:

  • Child-Centered: Teachers facilitate children’s search for meaning by providing materials that allow students to make discoveries, upon which they can build further learning.
  • Hands-On Constructive Play: It is through play that young children come to know and understand the world around them. The physical,  emotional, social, and cognitive development of a child is dependent upon activity. It is important that children have the opportunity and  time for free exploration, experimentation, and observation, particularly when concepts, materials, or activities are new or unknown to the children.
  • Support from the Teacher: The role of the teacher is to provide choices, prepare the environment, extend the curriculum and help guide experiences
